SPF - Freeeeeee!

This week for Stuff Portrait Friday, Kristine's assignment is "Free".

This is my saddle. There was never a time when I felt so free as when I was on a horse. I rode from the time I was 6 until I was 19. I miss it terribly. There's nothing like tearin' across the field at a flat out run. Nothing. No sports car or motorcycle can compare. The sound of thundering hooves. The wind stinging your face. And then you're almost airborn.

Gah! Too serious! Must make jokes! Jokes, dammit! Uhh...

A mother was reading a book about animals to her 3-year-old
daughter:

Mother: "What does the cow say?"

Child: "Mooo!"

Mother: "Great! What does the cat say?"

Child: "Meow."

Mother: "Oh, you're so smart! What does the frog say?"

And the wide-eyed 3-year-old looked up at her mother and
replied, "Bud."

So, did you play???

SPF - Red Rover, Red Rover, Please Send Something Red Over

This week's SPF assignment was "something red". Sounds easy, no? Yeah, well. No. I have been sitting here trying to think of something red AND interesting. So far, nothing. I'm still thinking though.

*thinking*

*thinking*

*THINKING*

Still Freakin' THINKING!!!

Maybe it is time to go take a trip around the house....which in list form translated into:
  • bring in the dog
  • play with the dog
  • feed the dog
  • give the dog treats
  • feed the cats
  • keep the fat one away from the skinny one's food
  • clean the kitchen
  • fill the dishwasher
  • forget to turn on the dishwasher (dammit)
  • walk around the living room
  • notice that there is not one red thing in the whole room
  • walk around some more
  • actually find something red that I like and that is mildly interesting, as in I don't think y'all will immediately go into a coma and bang your pretty little heads your keyboards after looking at it.
  • take multiple pictures of said red mildly interesting thing that all turn out the same
And so, here's the picture:

So this was my centerpiece that I made for the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday. I liked it so much that it is still sitting on the dining room table and I just can not bring myself to pack it up with the rest of the Christmasy stuff. It consists of a cheapo box of small ornaments from Target, a string of shiney beads from I can't remember where, and a weird vase-like thing that came with a blub of some sort that a very strange looking flower grew out of. That flower grew so tall that it wouldn't stand up anymore and I got tired of trying to balance it and just kind of chucked it outside and decided that if it took root and grew then it was meant to be. It's been 2 years and I haven't seen hide nor hair of it, so I'm thinking that it's a lost cause.

So anyway, there is my something red. I hope you liked it. Did you play???

SPF - Loosing My Buttons...Uh, I Mean Marbles

This week for SPF, Kristine's assignment is "buttons" (or something kinda like that. I'm feeling lazy and really don't want to write it down word for word.).

This is a button that I found in the washing machine (or dryer). I have no idea what it goes to. I've looked through our clothes and nothing is missing a button. Are our clothes sprouting extra buttons? Budding? Is this a shirt seed? If I plant it will a shirt grow?

Anyway, here is the little lost button. And no, I can't throw it away. I must find what it goes too. I must! So it will continue to sit on the window sill in the laundry room beside the dryer.

Also, please excuse the horrid fake wood counter top.

Stuff Portrait Friday, Holiday Edition

Well....here it is. My first SPF in like, what seems like forever! I've been a big slacker in the SPF Department. (not to mention the Blogging Department) So lets get started.

1.) One Ornament

This is my marshmallow snowman. I've been kind of obssessed with making homemade marshmallows lately, so when the Hubby and I went to pick out our yearly ornament, this just seemed to fitting! Not to mention how freakin' cute he is!!!

2.) Something Stuffed into a Stocking

This here is my Christmas Rat. My Great Aunt Babbie made him for me. He usually has a candy cane cane (okay, that was weird). Anyhow, this is him, stuffed into a stocking. He's actually still there. I forgot to take him out while I was trying to figure out which present to take a picture of.

3.) One Present

This is a present for my dad. I can't tell ya' what it is, since my parents sometimes read this. But I can tell you what the bag says, which, in my opinion, is even better than the present inside. So here goes...

"Top 10 Reasons I Bought You This Gift..."

10. I'm lazy
9. I'm cheap
8. I don't really know you that well
7. 50% OFF!
6. Irregular Item
5. Regifting
4. Brown nose
3. WRAP a gift?
2. You got me a gift
1. It fit in the BAG!

Hahahahaha! That just cracks me up.

Well that's my SPF, suddenly I don't feel like such a slacker ;)

SPF- Yes! I mean NO! Well...maybe...

Let's jump right in, shall we?

1.) Yes!

Okay....what that should read is "Yes! I am a huge dork!". I bought this dried fruit 2 weeks ago at the grocery store and then couldn't find it again. I was devestated! Then yesterday, I went into a different grocery store and realized that "dumbass!" (me) had been searching the shelves in the WRONG GROCERY STORE! On the plus side, I made a little kid laugh when she over heard me talking to myself about what an idiot I am! So this is my YES! YES YES YES!!! I'm so happy I found it! Yaaaay! AND....it's dried fruit! So I can have more than one piece! YES!

2.) NO!

This is my dog. He's boycotting outside. That look means "No. I wanna stay inside with my cows" (the two stuffed toys beside him are cows. one moos. it's hilarious. but not at 3 in the morning.) When I took this picture, I had the back door open to the garage and the garage door open to the back yard. He pretty much has a straight shot. But nooooo. Can't be bothered. He says "Hmm....outside. I'm thinking that's a no. I will take some treats if you have them though."

3.) Maybe...

Will I clean this pan? Won't I clean this pan? Meh. It's still up in the air. Can't I just throw the dirty pans away? Please? (on the plus side, I did clean that bowl!)

Did you play? Yes? No? Maybe?

SPF - The Good, Bad, and Ugly

This week we have a supposedly easy SPF consisting of:

1.) The Good
2.) The Bad
3.) The Ugly

Generally, I do not have to think about these things all week long, but I have been drawing a blank on this one. Yeah, yeah, I know, I suck. Anyway, here goes...

1.) The Good

Mmmmm....Diet Mountain Dew....I could not live without you! I mean, I probably could, but let's not give that a try. I switched from regular Mountain Dew about a year ago and I must admit....the diet stuff tasted like grass for the first two weeks, but now it tastes just like the regular to me. In fact, I was with the Hubby a few months ago and sort of kind of halfway choked and we were in the car and I had no drink, so I took a swig of his (he drinks the regular stuff) and it tasted like I might as well be drinking maple syrup. Yuck. I highly recommend the diet. No syrupy stuff in your throat...always a good thing.

2.) The Bad.

This is Squish. The Fish. He is a very bad fish. There used to be other fish in there with him. Used. To. Be. He killed them. (Bad fish! Bad!) They were all the same, Tiger Barbs, like the girl at the fish place suggested (since they were agressive, just supposedly not toward each other....well HA HA HA. Weren't they just WRONG!) and we also got a silver shark that they said the other fish definitely would NOT mess with. Let's just say I ended up having to rescue the poor little shark from sudden death by fin nibbling! There is one other fish in there with Squish. It's one of those sucker fish that I named Humphrey. Humphrey is easily 8 times the size of Squish, yet Squish STILL picks on him! BAD BAD FISH! (much finger wagging)

3.) The Ugly.

No, not the adorable kitty. The knitting. MY knitting. I just learned, so it's ok that it's kinda ugly....well, I learned nearly a year ago. My Aunt taught me over Thanksiving. My Granny tried to teach me when I was about 8 and that just wasn't gonna happen. I made a little blanket for my cat, but then kind of forgot all about it. Anyway, I picked it up again over Thanksgiving last year (and remembered NOTHING from when I was 8). I made my dad a scarf for last Christmas which took me...well...I'm not gonna tell you how long it took me. It's embarassing. I made my mom a scarf for Mother's Day (and gave it to her in July....oops....took a little longer that I expected). So basically, I've only given things to family members because....well....the phrase "something only a mother could love" comes to mind. The cute kitty DID help in making it just a little more ugly after I tried to pick it up off the floor and wrap it back up after taking the picture by snagging it and trying to eat it. Ugh. So. Yeah. Ugly. sigh

SPF - Easy Does It!

This week, Kristine has graced us with an even easier SPF than last week, which I am ashamed to admit, I did not do.

So here it is :)

1.) Your pot holders....okay, I have one. The other ones are like I'm not using pot holders at all after about 2 nanoseconds of holding something hot, so I don't count those as "pot holders"....they're more like....mittens....with gunk on them because well....I'm lazy. So, because of that laziness, I'm not going to try to come up with anything else clever about the pot holders...I'm just gonna post the picture.

2.) Your pumpkins. Okay....I had a naughty idea about this one, but instead, I'll stick with literal and show you my pumpkins. (hee hee....still sounds dirty)

and btw...that is my kitty next to the carved one....I just noticed that

3.) Something pink. I had to search my house for something pink. I am not all that girlie. When I was growing up (and even now) some of my friends were (or are) "pink crazy"....which I never understood. Take the friend this is for, for example....

She went absolutely Little Mermaid CRAZY when that movie first came out. I don't even want to think about how many times she's seen that. (don't worry, she's not still all LM batty!) and no, I won't tell you what's in the bag.....it's for her birthday and she sometimes reads this! It was just the only pink thing I had! And I won't even have it for long since we're going over to their house tonight (and God willing that I don't forget it, which is entirely possible) it won't be here tomorrow!

So there you have it! Did you play?!

SPF - I LOVE Fall

This weeks SPF is all about the changing of the seasons. I love the Fall (now that I'm no longer in school)! So let's just jump right in!

1.) Show me your season changing.

This is my little pumpkin tree that I made out of stuff on the clearance rack at the craft store the first year my hubby and I were married. It was our very first holiday as a married couple and this and a pumpkin were all that we could afford to do. I liked it so much that I put it out every year. It reminds me of how far we've come in the 6 years we've been married. Halloween is also my very favorite holiday, so when the weather starts to change along with the leaves, I know that it's Fall and that it's time to decorate the front porch to try and scare the bejeezus out of all the neighborhood kids!

2.) Show me the beauty of where you call home.

This is the house I grew up in (as seen from the creek in the back yard). My parents still live there. No matter where I live, this will always be home. I love this picture and how the house and trees are captured in the reflection on the water. We almost hung it upside down!

3.) Your favorite part of the weather changing.

This is my hoodie sweatshirt. I love this thing. I would sleep in it if I didn't think I'd sweat to death! I won it for winning an online scavenger hunt 2 years ago (beginning on Halloween, no less!) for a car-type group online for a specific kind of car that I own. I love my car. It looks mean (at least that's what my brother said when he saw it). The sweatshirt has their emblem on it and says "United Society of 3000GT and Stealth Owners - www.us3s.com - 'Faster Than You'". (just for clarification, I own the Mitsubishi 3000GT vr-4...not the stealth...HA!)(hmm, I think I'm a little bit of a car snob)(and also, I'm addicted to parenthases)(and also baking cookies....at 1:40am). Anyway, every year at the first sign of cold weather, I yank this off it's coat hanger and wear it until it's just too hot to breath!

Well that's about it for me! Did you play?! Huh? Did ya?!

SPF - Muse, News, Booze, Cruise (hey, I like where this is going)

This week, the SPF category is Muse. Let's jump right in, shall we? It's been a long week.

1.) SomeTHING (not someone) that inspires you to do what you do. (work, hobby, donate, create...whatever)

These are just a sampling of my books. I LOVE my books. I'm in the middle of re-flooring my office at the moment though, so this is all I could get to in the guestroom (if there were some plants, it would literally be a "jungle in there"). I am a writer....mostly....or at least, attempting to be one. Even just looking at these books imspires me to want to write. Unfortunately, that's not all it takes. Also, GOOD IDEAS help sometimes too. Where do I find those? Maybe they're under the bed.

2.) Something you don't like to read about on blogs. (yes, you can find a picture to describe this)

Oh boy was she ever right!

THE NEWS!!! I hate the news. My husband makes me watch two hours of news every night (thankfully, mostly not on the weekends). All culminating in ABC's World News Tonight with Charles Gibson (ugh). I miss Peter Jennings! Pete and I had a repore. FOr starters, I called him "Pete". Pete and I were good buddies. Anyway, if I wanted to READ the news, I'd go to one of the INFINITE news sites and read it from there without all the personal opinion stuff and the conveniently leaving-out of specific things that only help to make whoever's point. So...in short. The News. There's a reason that this paper...correction...this PART of the paper from...uhh...apparently 2003 was the only on in the house, and that was only because something was wrapped in it (notice the lovely wrinkles). News is not funny (generally) and when I go online, I mostly just want to be entertained. I need funny, y'all!

3.) Something that inspires you to write on your blog.(okay, she may have written "plog", but I just wrote "GLOG"! HA!)

My music. And pretty much just MY music...definitely NOT my husband's music. My music gives me inspiration for pretty much anything I want or need to do. My husband's music, on the other hand, makes me want to scratch someone's eyes out! Mainly HIS! It's bad, y'all. Baaaaad. My music is gooooood. So what all this boils down to is: Him = bad and Me = GOOD! (hee)

Random (and a little odd) SPF!

This week Kristine of "Random and Odd" wants us to show our support, our sacrifice, and something red. I love that last one. It's definitely the random and odd one of the bunch. Here goes!

1.) Show your support.

Okay, this could have gone either way. I wasn't sure if it was show what you support or show something that supports you. Either way, this was the first thing to pop in my head and I thought it was hilarious! So, there you go. My support ;)

2.) Show your sacrifice.

For those of you that don't know, that is a bridal (for a horse). I rode horses all my life and when I got married and moved away, I tried my best to keep my horse, but it ended up not being fair to him to keep him but not ride him or teach him anything new. I also have back problems which keep me on the ground seemingly more often than not. I miss him with all my heart and I'd do anything to get him back. But I know that he's loved and taken care of. That's not much comfort sometimes, though.

3.) Something RED!

I love my fuzzy pencil. Unfortunately, so does my cat. I find this thing all over the house! Either way...it's red! :)
